High School Update
The 2021 Washington HS Boys Lacrosse Ass. season has been delayed to coincide with WIAA Season 4 and will run from 4/26-6/27. https://www.wiaa.com/News.aspx?ID=1724&Mon=7&Yr=2020
EXPANDED FALL OPEN PERIOD
In recognition of missed time this summer, the 2020 Fall Open Period will run from 10/5 - 12/7. This open period will function in the same manner as the typical summer open period in that there will be no restriction on the number of contact days, but please follow the guidelines of your School District/County/Local Health Official with regards to Covid-19 protocols.
Youth GELL Updates
The GELL Executive Board announced...
- GELL will not be organizing a fall 2020 season, in accordance with the Washington State "Safe Start Phased Reopening" plan. King County is currently in phase 2 and is not on track to move to phase 3 any time soon.
- We encourage all programs to find creative ways to keep their players engaged. Per Washington state guidelines you can operate in "pods" of 5, with multiple pods on the same field (using buffer zones between them). We have heard from several GELL programs that are moving forward with a Phase 2 compliant Fall Ball program, so please feel free to share your plans with all the other GELL programs here.

RESTART COVID-19 REQUIREMENTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
• In Phase 2, team practice can resume if a) players are limited to groups of five in separate parts of the field, separated by a buffer zone and b) practice can follow social distancing of a minimum of six feet between players with no contact. Each league, organization, or club must publish and follow a “return to play” safety plan. Parents and household members must not congregate on the sidelines during practice.
• In Phase 3, teams can resume playing games. Total gathering at any one game cannot exceed 50 individuals. For sporting complexes with multiple fields or other playing surfaces, the 50-individual limit is counted on a per-field, not a per-complex basis.
• Nothing in these requirements should be read to obligate a facility owner to reopen a facility.
